About the Journal

Aims

Journal of Structural Materials is dedicated to providing a high-level platform for publishing cutting-edge scientific research in the fundamental science and critical engineering applications of structural materials. The journal aims to advance various research paradigms—including theoretical, computational, experimental, and data-driven approaches—applicable to the development of structural materials. It seeks to deepen the mechanistic understanding of the "composition-processing-structure-property" relationships in structural materials, promote performance optimization of traditional structural materials and the development of novel high-performance ones, thereby offering robust material science and technology support for applications across key engineering domains.

Scope

Journal of Structural Materials is a specialized, peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to publishing original research or reviews on fundamental scientific studies and engineering applications of various types of structural materials. The journal typically includes papers that address theoretical, computational, experimental, and data-driven research or integrated multi-scale, multi-modal, and multi-paradigm studies on the mechanical properties of structural materials or "structure-function" integrated materials. This may include, but are not limited to, static or dynamic mechanical properties such as elasticity, plasticity, fracture, fatigue, creep, and impact properties, as well as evaluation of service failure behavior related to tribology, oxidation, corrosion, irradiation, and performance under extreme environments like high/low temperatures and high pressures. Additionally, the journal covers the establishment of qualitative or quantitative relationships between composition, processing, microstructure, and properties in structural materials, along with their physical mechanism explanations. Research on engineering applications of structural materials across various fields such as aerospace, astronautics, marine engineering, transportation, construction, electronics, power generation, chemical engineering, environmental science, and energy is also featured. The journal encompasses a broad range of structural materials, including metals/alloys, ceramics, semiconductors, polymers, carbon/silicon-based materials, composites, nanomaterials, electronic materials, energy materials, environmental materials, biomaterials, wood, and cement/concrete, among others.
